About Missy david

Although I was born in Cleveland, OH (Cleveland Rocks!), I grew up in Tulsa, OK, graduating from Union High School in 1999. Once I stood up on the fireplace step and belted out "Oklahoma," for my family at the age of 4, it was pretty clear I had a future as a performer. I continued to perform as a child through dance, chorus, drama and more. I also danced and performed through college and still don't shy from the spotlight today. I've been featured on Tulsa Live as a regular guest and was the star of the Honeybee Mama show on Tulsa Feed's YouTube channel.

I've always been a "busy bee." In high school, I was a member of the Student Council, leader in my church youth group and many Bible studies, editor of the school newspaper and even the school mascot! I've always enjoyed being on the stage and took part in many plays, talent shows, competitive speech competitions and was voted "Most Spirited" of my graduating class.

After high school, I spent one school year at Wheaton College in Norton, MA, the college my grandmother attended. Having actually been a resident of New England, I'm allowed to use phrases like "Wicked Cool" and get away with it. I then completed my college education at the University of Oklahoma with a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education. As I fell in love with teaching and education, I also worked as a substitute teacher for Norman Public Schools and coordinated a collegiate level missions training course, training nearly 100 students over two years (told you I was a busy bee)!

Once college was complete, I married my first husband and worked for a non-profit agency. I worked in hospitality, recruiting and co-lead the children's program by assisting in writing the curriculum for that organization. Soon I became a stay-at-home mom of two children while living in Norman, OK.

It was during that time as a new mother that I discovered my love of childbirth and began my journey of becoming a Birth Doula through Doulas of Central Oklahoma in Oklahoma City. I received my training through DONA International and worked as a doula for nearly a year before encountering a huge life shift.

In 2008, my husband and I separated, and she relocated with her two children to her home town of Tulsa, OK. The soul-searching experience of single motherhood after my divorce was finalized, led me to begin my blogging career with the One for Me, Two for You blog. I had no idea that my little blog about being a single mom would eventually launch the Honeybee Mama brand, connect me with TulsaKids Magazine and seal my fate as a professional blogger!

In 2011, I remarried and am now the trophy wife to Marc David, the devastatingly handsome man of my dreams. He is truly my Lobster (you're welcome to all the Friends fans out there). In addition to being the mother of Aidan and Alec, I'm also the proud stepmother of Carter and Corrinne. We're kind of like the Brady Bunch, only much cooler.

Now, in addition to working as a Doula through the Tulsa Family Doulas agency, I teach and equip childbirth professionals through my training system, Your Birth Experience, contract professional blogging services for Creative Advocate and TulsaKids Magazine and offer consulting and mentoring services to new doulas just starting their careers.

I believe you should do what you love and love what you do and I feel I am truly "living the dream". I hope to inspire others to live the dream too and share my story and successes to help others do just that!
